Containers get stuck. Ports back up. Customs rules change overnight. These are physical problems with real goods on the line, so AI here doesn't replace the people doing the work. AI gives them Iron Man suits, and we've already cut 80% of the emails our teams used to send.

Our team continues to grow while raising the bar for excellence, innovation, and technology.

Flexport runs 45+ offices worldwide and we're still opening more. Our teams speak over 70 languages. Between relocations, Marco Polo, and global summits, you'll have multiple opportunities to travel the world.

I love working at Flexport because every day brings a new challenge in global trade, and I get to face those challenges alongside the sharpest people I’ve ever worked with. That shared energy and our relentless drive to innovate make every day genuinely fulfilling.

I've enjoyed working in a space where the problems feel non-abstract and relevant especially in a time of so much uncertainty in global trade. In my 7 years at Flexport I've grown from a SWEII to a Senior Software Engineer to an Engineering Manager, and then I was given the chance to move across the world from Chicago to Amsterdam. Flexport has afforded me opportunities that have made both my life and my career more interesting and exciting.

What makes Flexport a great place to work is the combination of a supportive team and an environment intentionally built for growth and ownership. I’m constantly empowered to tackle new challenges, learn from exceptionally smart colleagues, and push myself to level up every day.

The problem set is vast and ever-changing, yet tangible in the physical world. The commercial opportunity is immense, and the impact on customers is real. Our product offering is uniquely positioned. Our strategic vision is inspiring. Our culture is characterized by velocity, creativity, and ambition. I feel each of these elements on a daily basis, which makes Flexport an incredible place to build.

I've been at Flexport for almost 9 years, across account management, operations, and now leading our Control Tower product. What's kept me around: the people are sharp and hungry, the problems never run out, and you get autonomy to figure things out and build the solution. But the part that gets me out of bed each day is I've always felt like Flexport genuinely cares about its people and its customers.

There is never a boring day at Flexport. We've been on the front lines of COVID, tariff shocks, the Suez Canal closure, and now Hormuz. When global trade gets disrupted, our customers feel it, and we build the tools that help them respond and keep their supply chains humming along. Working on problems that matter this much, with people I actually enjoy seeing every day, is hard to find anywhere else.

Flexport.org uses logistics as a positive force for good - enabling organizations to deliver global aid and meet their sustainability goals with greater ease and lower costs.

I don't have any global logistics experience. Should I still apply?

Absolutely. One of the keys to our success is bringing hard-working, talented technologists into the world of global logistics and giving them the opportunity to impact this massive, antiquated industry. There's tremendous opportunity in showing people that something that appears boring like global shipping is actually incredibly interesting. And there are few industries with a starker contrast between the complexity of the problem at hand and the sophistication of the companies attempting to solve it. Where competitors see cardboard boxes that need to get moved, and opportunities to buy low and sell high, we see a world of fascinating network economics, supply and demand elasticity questions, complex coordination challenges, routing optimization, and a huge array of other problems that are best solved with technology than any amount of industry experience. Don't get us wrong, we value domain experience and are blessed to have hired so many of the smartest people from global logistics to work on our team. But we absolutely require new approaches and innovation that almost always comes from outside the sector.

I'm interested in applying. What should I do next?

It all begins with the first step: Find a role that looks right and apply online. You can filter your search by either location or team.

We recommend only applying for one role at a time, so pick the best fit and send in your application.

What happens after I apply?

Once you apply, our recruiters will be in touch if it’s a good fit and we'll begin the process of getting to know each other.

They may ask you for things like work samples, but more than anything they will be listening and sharing more about what makes Flexport such a great place to work.

What does the interview process look like?

Our straightforward hiring process is designed to give you all the information you need to make an informed choice about your next career.

First, apply. Then, one of our recruiters will be in touch. If it’s a good match, you’ll be invited to meet with a diverse interview panel, including the manager and members of the team, structured in such a way as to mitigate bias.

By the end of the process, you will have a very real feel for what life is like at Flexport. We look forward to meeting you.
